Dilution & copy number

Start with your current stock concentration and volume, choose the dilution factor yourself, and get the exact stock and diluent volumes for the final volume you want. If you also enter a target copies/µL, the tool shows the factor that would reach it; the recipe still follows the factor you choose.

Best dilution path

This planner breaks a large copy-number dilution into practical steps: first reach a clean intermediate with measurable volumes, then finish exactly. It reports how many dilutions are needed and each stock/diluent volume.

Generic C1V1 = C2V2

For non-copy dilutions, enter any three values and leave the unknown empty. Keep concentration units matched and volume units matched.

Copy-number recipe: final concentration = current ÷ factor; stock to use = final volume ÷ factor; diluent = final volume − stock. Dilution cannot concentrate a stock, and you cannot use more stock than you have.
